From the age of 55, admission to private health insurance is often possible only with restrictions. A late switch can also mean higher premiums.
It matters to us that a switch pays off for you in the long run. That is why we do not recommend a consultation when your answers already show that the conditions are rather unfavorable.

Inter specializes in the healthcare professions and the self-employed. Its focus is on full cover for the healthcare professions and the self-employed. The following figures put the financial position into context, each compared with the insurer's own ten-year average and the industry average (as of 2024).
Above the industry average of 2.8 per 100,000: more complaints than the market average.
Above the industry average of 20.9 percent: a solid safety cushion.
Above the industry average of 2.8 percent: solid investment income supports stable premiums.
| Indicator | Inter 2024 | 10-year average | Industry average |
|---|---|---|---|
| RfB ratio | 34.7% | 38.9% | 37.4% |
| RfB allocation ratio | 7.6% | 12.5% | 10.5% |
| Equity ratio | 34.3% | 36.4% | 20.9% |
| Net interest yield | 3.9% | 4.0% | 2.8% |
| Administrative cost ratio | 2.7% | 2.8% | 2.9% |
| Claims ratio | 86.7% | 77.8% | 75.1% |
| Acquisition cost ratio | 7.6% | 8.3% | 8.0% |
| Complaints ratio (per 100,000) | 14.6 | 6.5 | 2.8 |
Inter shows a mixed but fundamentally sound picture compared with the industry. Low administrative costs and an above-average net interest yield speak for stable premiums. Points to note are a provision for premium refunds below the industry average and an increased complaints ratio. Inter belongs to the Inter insurance group, which gives it a clear place in the market.
Your ageing reserves are kept in full with an internal change under § 204 VVG. Only a switch to another insurer means that the calculated reserves are lost.
An adjustment is only permitted under the conditions of § 203 VVG. It requires a lasting change in benefit expenditure or mortality rates and must be reviewed and approved by an independent trustee.
A fixed deadline applies above all to the special right of termination under § 205 (4) VVG, namely two months after receipt of the notice. You can approach the internal change under § 204 VVG with more flexibility in timing.
