Münchener Verein is an insurance group with a long tradition and a focus on health and long-term care insurance. The following figures put the financial position into context, each compared with the insurer's own ten-year average and the industry average (as of 2024).
Above the industry average of 20.9 percent: a solid safety cushion.
Above the industry average of 75.1 percent: above-average benefit expenditure, a factor for future adjustments.
Below the industry average of 37.4 percent: a comparatively narrow buffer for future adjustments.
| Indicator | Münchener Verein 2024 | 10-year average | Industry average |
|---|---|---|---|
| RfB ratio | 32.2% | 48.1% | 37.4% |
| RfB allocation ratio | 3.2% | 11.1% | 10.5% |
| Equity ratio | 31.2% | 32.8% | 20.9% |
| Net interest yield | 2.5% | 2.7% | 2.8% |
| Administrative cost ratio | 3.1% | 3.0% | 2.9% |
| Claims ratio | 86.1% | 78.0% | 75.1% |
| Acquisition cost ratio | 11.3% | 7.7% | 8.0% |
| Complaints ratio (per 100,000) | 2.8 | 3.8 | 2.8 |
Münchener Verein shows an uneven picture compared with the industry. Points to note are a provision for premium refunds below the industry average, comparatively high administrative costs and a net interest yield below market level. Münchener Verein is organized as a mutual insurance association, which gives it a clear place in the market.
No. With an internal change under § 204 VVG, your ageing reserves are kept in full. Only when you switch to another insurer are the calculated reserves lost.
The legal basis is § 203 VVG. An increase is only allowed if the calculated benefit expenditure or mortality rates have changed permanently, and it must be approved by an independent trustee.
You can start the plan change under § 204 VVG at any time. For the special right of termination under § 205 (4) VVG, however, you only have two months from receipt of the notice. If you check early, you keep all options open.
