Premium increase at Württembergische: what now?

Exclusive tips from our experts on how to handle your premium adjustment.

01

Keep calm

Stay calm after the notice. An increase does not mean that your plan is bad. Take your time to look at what amount you will pay and what cover you get for it.

02

Analyze the adjustment letter

Read the notice closely. The date of receipt, the new premium and the reason decide which options are open to you and how much time you have.

03

Plan change instead of a rash decision

Before you think about switching to another insurer, check whether a plan change under § 204 VVG within Württembergische makes sense. This is often the simpler way to a lower premium without setting up your cover completely from scratch.

04

The overall picture counts

A lower premium sounds attractive, but it can come with noticeable cuts in benefits. What matters is not the price alone but whether the plan fits your needs in the long term.

05

Have your options reviewed neutrally

With a premium adjustment, an outside view helps. We are familiar with the plans of Württembergische and find the way with you that fits your needs and keeps your reserves.

Switching to private health insurance is probably not advisable for you.

From the age of 55, admission to private health insurance is often possible only with restrictions. A late switch can also mean higher premiums.

It matters to us that a switch pays off for you in the long run. That is why we do not recommend a consultation when your answers already show that the conditions are rather unfavorable.

How to read the financial position

Württembergische shows a mixed but fundamentally sound picture compared with the industry. An above-average provision for premium refunds and a low complaints ratio speak for stable premiums. Points to note are comparatively high administrative costs and a net interest yield below market level. Württembergische belongs to the Wüstenrot & Württembergische group, which gives it a clear place in the market.

Frequently asked questions

Do I keep my ageing reserves if I change plan within Württembergische?

Your ageing reserves are kept in full with an internal change under § 204 VVG. Only a switch to another insurer means that the calculated reserves are lost.

On what basis does Württembergische increase the premium?

An adjustment is only permitted under the conditions of § 203 VVG. It requires a lasting change in benefit expenditure or mortality rates and must be reviewed and approved by an independent trustee.

How quickly do I need to respond?

A fixed deadline applies above all to the special right of termination under § 205 (4) VVG, namely two months after receipt of the notice. You can approach the internal change under § 204 VVG with more flexibility in timing.
