Why this plan is in our selection
For employees, Alte Oldenburger combines four modules into full cover. The outpatient plan A90/100 is the basis and works with a deductible of 10 percent, capped at €165 a year and applying only to outpatient benefits. In hospital the K20 provides a two-bed room and private doctor treatment, and the add-on module K/S raises this to a single room. The Z100/80 takes care of dental cover with 100 percent for dental treatment and 80 percent for dentures. The plan is in our selection above all because of its strong claims handling, which we rate at 9 out of 10 points. Alte Oldenburger has been on the market for many years, the plan has found its market price and is calculated stably, which shows in solid premium stability of 7 out of 10 points. The starting premium is in the middle range, and we rate the premium level at 5 out of 10 points. If you value reliable reimbursement and want cover with sober calculation, this is a solid choice for employees.

Reimbursement above the maximum rates
For outpatient and inpatient care the plan reimburses doctors' fees also above the maximum rates of the GOÄ. At the dentist it pays up to 3.5 times the GOZ rate, and this is exactly where many specialists bill.

What you should know
!
The dental benefit limits cap dentures, inlays and orthodontics in the first three years at €1,000 to €2,000. If you plan larger dental work soon, you should factor this in.
!
The plan includes no option right for higher-level cover and no simplified right to change plan. The statutory right to change plan under § 204 VVG of course still applies.
!
Repatriation from abroad is not reimbursed, and worldwide cover outside Europe is limited to 3 months. For longer trips, additional cover makes sense.
!
Preventive checkups are limited to €160 per checkup and visual aids to €160 per calendar year, with partial reimbursement above that.
!
Krankentagegeld is not included and belongs in every calculation for employees. If you have pre-existing conditions, we recommend an anonymous risk enquiry before you apply.
Who this plan suits
The combination suits employees above the JAEGJAEG · JahresarbeitsentgeltgrenzeThe annual income threshold in Germany. Employees who earn more than this per year may leave statutory health insurance and switch to private health insurance.More about JAEG → who want cover with sober calculation and reliable claims handling and value a good balance of benefits and premium. It is also the right place if free choice of doctor and reimbursement above the maximum rates of the fee schedule are important to you.
It is less suitable if dentures at 100 percent, an option right for higher-level cover or worldwide repatriation are among your most important criteria. For these cases we show you better alternatives from our comparison in our advice.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the cover consist of four modules?
⌄
The A90/100 is the outpatient plan and the basis, and it also carries the deductible and the no-claims refund. In hospital the K20 secures the two-bed room and the private doctor, and the K/S raises this to a single room. The Z100/80 takes care of dental cover. We show you this modular logic in detail in the plan analysis from advisory practice.
Does my employer contribute to this plan?
⌄
Yes. As a privately insured employee you receive the employer contribution of half your premium, up to the statutory maximum. The contribution applies no matter which plan you choose.
Can I adjust the combination later?
⌄
Within Alte Oldenburger you can switch to similar plans using the right to change plan under § 204 VVG, and you keep your ageing reserves. However, this plan has neither a simplified right to switch to higher-level plans nor an option right, so the benefit level should fit from the start.
What happens if premiums rise?
⌄
Premium adjustments are part of how private health insurance works. What matters is their long-term size. This plan has been on the market for many years and is calculated stably, and we explain separately what matters for premium stability. If an increase is large, we check plan optimization with you.
How is our rating calculated?
⌄
The five key figures come from our ongoing plan analysis. They are based on the plan terms, the published premium histories and our experience with claims handling from advisory practice. The rating is our professional assessment, not a ranking by a testing institute.

Switching to private health insurance is probably not advisable for you.
From the age of 55, admission to private health insurance is often possible only with restrictions. A late switch can also mean higher premiums.
It matters to us that a switch pays off for you in the long run. That is why we do not recommend a consultation when your answers already show that the conditions are rather unfavorable.
