Why this plan is in our selection
For us, Universa's Uni-TopIprivat 300 is one of the strongest plans on the market, and that is exactly why it is in our selection for employees. We rate benefit coverage at 10 out of 10 points. The plan reimburses outpatient, inpatient and dental costs also above the maximum rates of the fee schedule, which is where many specialists bill. Unlike pure premium plans, Universa links this level to a fixed deductible of €300 a year that applies to outpatient, inpatient and dental costs. This lowers the premium, which is in the middle range at 6 out of 10 points, and overall gives a balanced price-performance picture instead of an expensive all-inclusive package. On top of that comes a simplified right to choose plans, meaning a switch to other plans without new health questions, and an option right for higher-level cover after six years. We classify Universa's premium history as above-average in reliability at 8 out of 10 points, and claims handling at 9 out of 10 points.

What you should know
!
Dentures, implants and orthodontics are reimbursed at 90 percent, not at 100. An own share remains for dentures.
!
The dental benefit limits cap dental benefits in the first four years at €1,500 to €6,000. If you plan larger dentures soon, you should factor this in.
!
The deductible of €300 per year applies to outpatient, inpatient and dental benefits and is due in every calendar year with bills.
!
Cover abroad outside Europe is limited to three months, and to up to 36 months after 36 months of insurance. Longer stays need a separate agreement.
!
Krankentagegeld is not included and belongs in every calculation for employees. If you have pre-existing conditions, we recommend an anonymous risk enquiry before the application.
Who this plan suits
The Uni-TopIprivat 300 suits employees above the JAEGJAEG · JahresarbeitsentgeltgrenzeThe annual income threshold in Germany. Employees who earn more than this per year may leave statutory health insurance and switch to private health insurance.More about JAEG → who want a top benefit level but do not want to pay a pure premium price for it and can live well with a fixed deductible of €300 a year. It is also one of the stronger options in our selection for families, from the premium-free Kindernachversicherung to a companion in hospital.
The plan is less suitable if you do not want to bear any own share in a claim or if dentures must be covered at 100 percent. For these cases we show you better alternatives from our comparison in our advice.
Premium development at Universa: A plan is only as good as its calculation. We show the adjustments of past years transparently by year and plan.
The 300 stands for the deductible of €300 per calendar year in the plan. It applies to outpatient, inpatient and dental benefits. Until the end of the year in which you turn 20, the deductible is halved, and preventive care, vaccinations and professional teeth cleaning remain reimbursable regardless.
Does my employer contribute to this plan?
⌄
Yes. As a privately insured employee you receive the employer contribution of half your premium, up to the statutory maximum. The contribution applies no matter which plan you choose.
Can I adjust the plan later?
⌄
Yes, and the Uni-TopIprivat 300 makes it easier than many other plans. It provides a simplified right to switch to other plans without new health questions, with waiting periods only for additional benefits. Regardless of this, the statutory right to change plan under § 204 VVG applies, and you keep your ageing reserves.
What happens if premiums rise?
⌄
Premium adjustments are part of how private health insurance works. What matters is their long-term size. You can find Universa's specific adjustments by year and plan in our overview of premium adjustments. If an increase is large, we check plan optimization with you.
How is our rating calculated?

It matters to us that a switch pays off for you in the long run. That is why we do not recommend a consultation when your answers already show that the conditions are rather unfavorable.
