Why this plan is in our selection
The Barmenia einsA expert+ is in our selection for children because it reaches two clear tens for scope of benefits and claims handling, and that is rare. For families this means cover that leaves little room for dispute in a serious case: psychotherapy at 100 percent without a session limit, alternative practitioners also beyond the fee directory, naturopathic treatment including Hufeland and one of the strongest health cure benefits in our selection. On top of that comes an unusually flexible option right that lets you adapt the cover to later stages of life, up to adding KrankentagegeldKrankentagegeldPrivate sick pay: a daily allowance from private insurance while you are unable to work. It replaces lost income from an agreed day of illness.More about Krankentagegeld → later. We rate the premium history at 6 out of 10 points, and the starting premium as well, which is the price of the high benefit level. If you deliberately put benefits and the quality of claims handling first for your child, this is one of the strongest options.
01
Top benefits and fair claims handling
For scope of benefits and claims handling we give 10 out of 10 points each. In concrete terms this includes psychotherapy at 100 percent without a limit on the number of sessions, alternative practitioner benefits also beyond the maximum amounts of the fee directory and naturopathic treatment including Hufeland.
02
Unusually flexible option right
At the end of the third, fifth or seventh year of insurance you can switch to higher-level cover or a lower deductible without new health questions. Further options apply when the child completes training or studies and on a change of professional status, and if you wish also for Krankentagegeld later.
03
Strong health cures and worldwide cover
With 5 out of 5 rating points in the plan terms, the health cure benefit is one of the strongest in our selection, and recovery cures are supported with an additional €200 per day. Cover abroad applies worldwide and can be extended without time limit if the PflegepflichtversicherungPflegepflichtversicherungCompulsory long-term care insurance. Everyone with health insurance in Germany must have it, privately insured people through their private insurer. is continued.

Who this plan suits

If you want a lot of flexibility for later stages of life, you are also in good hands here.
The plan fits less well if the lowest premium or cover entirely without a share of your own is the priority. For these cases we show leaner alternatives from our comparison in our advice.

Switching to private health insurance is probably not advisable for you.
From the age of 55, admission to private health insurance is often possible only with restrictions. A late switch can also mean higher premiums.
It matters to us that a switch pays off for you in the long run. That is why we do not recommend a consultation when your answers already show that the conditions are rather unfavorable.
