Plan combination B-Reihe (B4530, BK100, BKT, BEP)
Suitable for Civil servants
Data as of July 2026, source: plan terms and our advisory practice

Why this plan is in our selection

Note for civil servants: Beihilfe  is a matter for each federal state. The exact plan combination can therefore differ from state to state. Our sample combination and the modules shown refer to Hesse. Which modules and which percentage level fit your state and your Beihilfesatz, we clarify in our advice.

The B series is the Beihilfe  plan for civil servants that LKH, the Landeskrankenhilfe, newly introduced on July 1, 2026, and it is one of the strongest offers in our selection. We rate benefit coverage and family friendliness at 10 out of 10 points each, claims handling at 8 out of 10 points and the premium at 6 out of 10 points. Because the plan is new, there is no premium history yet for premium stability. We therefore mark this key figure with a dash in our rating and add it as soon as the first adjustment data is available. As a civil servant you only pay part of your medical costs yourself, because the Beihilfe of your public employer covers the rest, usually half. The plan insures exactly this remaining share. The outpatient plan B4530 covers outpatient benefits and dental care, BK100 raises hospital cover to a two-bed room and private doctor, BKT to a single room, and the Beihilfe supplementary plan BEP closes remaining costs and the missing Beihilfe share. The percentage level is chosen to match your Beihilfesatz.

Bleaching up to €300 as well as analgesic sedation, nitrous oxide sedation, hypnosis and acupuncture up to €300 per 3 calendar years through the Beihilfe  supplementary plan

How the Beihilfe plan is structured

The special feature of a plan for civil servants is the interplay of Beihilfe  and a Restkostentarif. The plan insures only the share that Beihilfe does not pay, and the percentage level is chosen to match your Beihilfesatz. There is no deductible.

B4530 (outpatient plan)

Covers outpatient benefits and dental care at the percentage level that matches Beihilfe

BK100 (top-up plan)

Two-bed room and private doctor treatment in hospital

No-claims refund

If you submit no bills, you get money back. The plan combines a guaranteed lump sum with a performance-based refund, which is rare at this level from the start of the contract.

Guaranteed lump-sum payment

€100 after one, 200 after two, €300 after three claim-free years, also possible as a premium deferral

Performance-based refund

2 monthly premiums after one, 3 after two, 4 after three claim-free years

New policyholders

4 monthly premiums refund already in the first year

Children and young people

Receive the same refund

Prevention protection

Preventive care, vaccinations, prophylaxis and professional teeth cleaning do not put the refund at risk

Family, travel and extras

The points beyond the core benefits often decide about everyday life, especially when your life situation changes. Here the plan shows its strength for families.

Parental allowance and parental leave

Premium exemption for up to 6 months while receiving parental allowance or during parental leave

Kindernachversicherung

Newborns free of premium in the month of birth and the following 6 months

Option right

Higher-level cover within the plan line, plus an option for full cover and Krankentagegeld KrankentagegeldPrivate sick pay: a daily allowance from private insurance while you are unable to work. It replaces lost income from an agreed day of illness.More about Krankentagegeld → if the Beihilfe  entitlement ends

Krankentagegeld  is not part of this combination and is usually not needed for civil servants, because their salary continues during illness. If the Beihilfe  entitlement ends later, an option for full cover and Krankentagegeld applies.

All benefit details come from the insurer's plan terms and are summarized in simplified form. Only the insurance conditions are binding. In a consultation we check the details for your situation.

Strengths and limits

No plan is the right choice for everyone. This is what speaks for this combination, and this is what you should know.

What you should know

  • !

The plan was newly introduced on July 1, 2026. There is therefore no premium history yet for premium stability, and we will only give a reliable assessment once the first adjustment data is available.

  • !

We rate the premium at 6 out of 10 points. It is appropriate for the very high benefit level, but it is not the cheapest Beihilfe  plan in our selection.

  • !

The dental benefit limits apply through the Beihilfe  supplementary plan and limit dentures in the first three calendar years to €1,250 to €5,000. If you plan larger dentures in the near future, you should factor this in.

  • !

There is no simplified right to change plan, but there is an option right for higher-level cover within the plan line. The statutory right to change plan under § 204 VVG still applies.

  • !

A strong plan only pays off if your application is accepted cleanly. If you have pre-existing conditions, we recommend an anonymous risk enquiry before you apply.

Who this plan suits

The plan suits civil servants who want the highest benefit level, value strong family benefits and a high no-claims refund, and accept a somewhat higher premium for it. Especially for families and for starting a career as a civil servant, it is one of the strongest options in our selection.

It is less suitable if the lowest possible premium is the priority or if you expect an established, long premium history when choosing. Since the plan is new, this history is not available yet. For both cases we show you suitable alternatives in our advice.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the rating for premium stability missing?

The plan was newly introduced on July 1, 2026. For a reliable assessment of premium stability we need a premium history, meaning data on how the premium develops over several years. For a new plan this is not available yet. We will add the rating as soon as the first adjustment data is available. We have already assessed the other four key figures.

Why does the cover consist of several plans?

B4530 is the outpatient plan and covers outpatient benefits including dental care. BK100 raises hospital cover to a two-bed room and private doctor treatment, BKT to a single room. The Beihilfe  supplementary plan BEP closes remaining costs and the missing Beihilfe share. Only together do the modules give the full scope of benefits, matched to your Beihilfe entitlement.

Does the plan match my Beihilfesatz?

Yes. A Restkostentarif RestkostentarifA private plan that covers the share of medical costs that Beihilfe does not pay. Together with Beihilfe it gives civil servants full cover.More about Restkostentarif → that matches Beihilfe  covers exactly the share that Beihilfe does not pay. The percentage level is chosen to match your Beihilfesatz, so with 50 percent Beihilfe it covers the other half. If Beihilfe rises with children or in retirement, we adjust the plan.

What happens if premiums rise?

Premium adjustments are part of how private health insurance works. What matters is their long-term size. We document LKH's adjustments by year and plan in our overview of premium adjustments. If an increase is large, we check plan optimization with you.

How is our rating calculated?

The key figures come from our ongoing plan analysis. They are based on the plan terms, the published premium histories and our experience with claims handling from advisory practice. The rating is our professional assessment, not a ranking by a testing institute.

Switching to private health insurance is probably not advisable for you.

From the age of 55, admission to private health insurance is often possible only with restrictions. A late switch can also mean higher premiums.

It matters to us that a switch pays off for you in the long run. That is why we do not recommend a consultation when your answers already show that the conditions are rather unfavorable.
